In practice, sexual orientation should not have anything to do with homebuying.
In reality, many of my friends and clients have shared stories of experiencing everything from subtle bias to outright discrimination. Our community has no federal protection against housing discrimination because unfortunately sexual orientation is not among the protected classes cited in the Fair Housing Act.
This is why you may find working with an LGBTQ real estate professional helpful.
I know that feeling safe and being treated with respect is of utmost importance to every client – including members of our LGBTQ community.

✨Are their updates that you have been putting off? Just updating small things like paint can add a lot of value to your home.
✨Tackle larger projects like remodeling your kitchen. I always say, remodel it now and enjoy it versus doing it right before you sell.
✨Ask your Realtor to set you up on a monthly neighborhood activity search so you keep up to date on all the activity in your local area.
🏡If you don’t own a home, there are things you can be doing to set yourself up for success when you’re ready to purchase.
✨Talk with your financial advisor or mortgage broker to make sure you have all your finances in order or if there is something you might need to work on (Ask your Realtor for recommendations)
